The cultural and media association Ruskeat tytöt is ending its operations, Yle reports. Helsingin Sanomat reported that the underlying reason is a lack of funding. The association has operated with volunteers in recent years.
Founded in 2017, the association grew out of a blog by writer Koko Hubara, who used the term Ruskeat tytöt.
It has organised events, training and cooperation projects focused on collaboration, advice and education for people with immigrant backgrounds and members of other minorities.
“It is important to us that our work serves our community and is carried out sustainably, while valuing the people doing it. However, we have not been able to guarantee these conditions for some time,” the association said in a statement.
The statement said the work would continue in different forms and in new places.
