The Faroese General Practitioners Association is demanding answers from Novo Nordisk after 87 Faroese doctors were found listed in an internal company database, KVF reported.
The database classifies doctors by how much Novo Nordisk medicine they prescribe and their commercial value to the Danish pharmaceutical company, according to information from a data leak obtained by Danish outlet Ingeniøren and shared with KVF.
Four Faroese doctors are in the database’s top category, called “Advocates”. Two work at the National Hospital, while the other two are linked to a GP practice in Tórshavn.
Association chair Turið Holm Johannessen said she was concerned that the company had recorded and assessed Faroese doctors according to their sales value. She wants Novo Nordisk to explain why and how it collected and stored the information.
