The Permit and Supervisory Agency has suspended the operations of Plastic Surgery Center, Yle reported. The agency said patient safety was seriously endangered by the company’s activities.
The agency carried out an unannounced inspection on Wednesday and verbally ordered the company to stop operating immediately.
Two Plastic Surgery Center units operate on the same premises on Aleksanterinkatu in Helsinki. The suspension applies to both Plastic Surgery Center Helsinki Oy and Plastic Surgery Center Tampere Oy.
“At this stage, we cannot provide further details about the suspension decision. We will provide more information once the written decision has been completed,” Niina Oresmaa, head of a unit at the agency’s social and healthcare department, said in a statement.
Plastic Surgery Center has been in the news in recent days after 27-year-old Olivia Oras died while receiving treatment there.
According to information obtained by Yle’s MOT programme, Oras lost consciousness during the anaesthesia administered before liposuction. It is not known whether an error occurred during the treatment.
