Five villages in Skive Municipality have brought together around 100 children and adults for a joint Halloween celebration, DR reports. The event aims to give children in the small communities more chances to celebrate together.
Hejlskov, Hald, Lund, Bøstrup and Ørum joined forces to organise the event at a community hall. Hejlskov has just 26 houses and around 15 children in the age group for Halloween, and the other villages face similar challenges.
“We can do much more together than separately, and we also avoid competing with one another,” said Diana Lund, a volunteer from Hejlskov who helped organise the event. She said working across the villages made it possible to bring together more families and volunteers.
Many of the children already know one another through Ørslev Kloster Børneunivers, a shared school, kindergarten and after-school care programme for the area. Parents have named the new network “ØK’s children’s community”.
The Halloween gathering is the group’s third joint children’s event. Earlier this year, the villages held a Viking-themed bonfire gathering and a pyjama party. A shared Fastelavn celebration is planned for February, with events rotating between the villages and their community halls.
