Midttrafik suspends weekday flex trip bookings over vehicle shortage

Midttrafik, the regional transport company, is suspending bookings for ordinary flex trips on weekdays between 10am and 4pm because it lacks vehicles, DR reports.

The company said it is missing about a quarter of the vehicles operating flex traffic in Central Jutland. Flex traffic has faced a risk of delays and longer booking lead times since Wednesday last week.

With fewer vehicles available, Midttrafik must prioritise certain journeys, according to Henrik Juul Vestergaard, the company’s head of advice, planning and flex traffic.

These include hospital treatment, school transport for children with special needs and transport for people with disabilities. Midttrafik said it had therefore stopped accepting flex trip bookings during peak periods, while acknowledging that the measure would cause inconvenience for customers.

The restriction took effect at 3pm on 8 September and will remain in place for two weeks.
