Ferry Smyril will carry no more than 500 passengers until September 23 while its Marine Evacuation Systems are upgraded, KVF reported.

MES stations are assembly and evacuation points on ships used to quickly move large numbers of passengers and crew off a vessel in an emergency. People descend through a chute onto large rescue rafts at sea.

Four departures have also been cancelled. They are the Wednesday sailings on September 16 and September 23, departing Krambatangi at 8.45am and Havn at 11.30am.
