One municipality could reveal Center Party’s election result

One municipality could offer an early indication of how the Center Party will perform in the election, according to SVT election reporter Fouad Youcefi.

The Center Party was the biggest loser in the previous election, losing support in every municipality in Sweden. But the party could receive better news on election night, and Youcefi is keeping a particularly close watch on one municipality to see whether its support has recovered.

Under Annie Lööf’s leadership, the party shifted from being primarily a rural party to gaining support in larger cities. In an effort to win back those voters, Lööf is campaigning for the Center Party in Stockholm during the final phase of the election campaign.

In the 2022 election, the party lost ground in its traditional strongholds in Jämtland and on Gotland. The question now is whether those core voters will return to the Center Party.
