Finland’s Border Guard will expand its bilateral border security assistance to Estonia through the end of September, Yle reported.

The support began in August with one patrol. It will now consist of four patrols and four patrol vehicles.

The assistance is linked to illegal entry from Belarus into the Baltic countries. According to the Border Guard, the possibility that the phenomenon could spread to Finland remains.

Finnish patrols are carrying out border security duties in Estonia at the request of Estonia’s Police and Border Guard Board.
