Kontiotuote has secured its largest export contract to date, involving the delivery of 10,000 log buildings valued at €250 million. According to CEO Mika Rytky, this agreement ensures year-round operations and will prevent layoffs for Kontiotuote employees next winter. Reima Lauri, the team leader in log manufacturing, noted that the news has been positively received by the entire workforce. “It is significant for the whole community, as many people here are employed by the company,” he remarked.

The company experienced a record year in 2022, with a revenue increase to €93 million, up from €54 million the previous year. Rytky anticipates breaking another record in the coming year, or at the latest, by 2026. “Once domestic demand starts to recover, we will recruit new staff for the Pudasjärvi production and design teams for our other offices.”

The export will proceed in two phases: the first phase involves sending 2,500 log houses to the Mediterranean region. The second phase will see 7,500 log buildings exported to a location outside of Europe. Details regarding the backer of the contract, a billionaire listed on Forbes, remain undisclosed. Rytky confirmed only that the client is a very wealthy individual who prefers to keep their identity confidential at this stage.
