Autumn weather reaches Finland as temperatures fall below 10°C

Autumn-like weather will spread across Finland over the weekend, with temperatures falling below 10°C in much of the country on Sunday, Yle reports.

Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in many areas from Friday afternoon. Rain will be heaviest in Lapland, where it will continue steadily, while western Finland will remain drier.

Temperatures will reach 15 to 20°C in southern and central Finland on Friday. In Lapland, a cool northeasterly airflow will keep temperatures at around 10°C, according to Yle meteorologist Henriikka Heikinheimo.

The weather will become drier and slightly clearer towards the evening, although rain will continue in northern Finland.

Temperatures will fall over the weekend, and on Sunday they will remain below 10°C in most parts of the country.
