BHM appoints Andri Valur Ívarsson as executive director

BHM, an alliance of unions for university-educated professionals, has appointed Andri Valur Ívarsson as its executive director, mbl.is reports.

Ívarsson has worked as BHM’s lawyer since spring 2017 and is well known to the alliance’s member organisations. He has extensive knowledge of BHM’s operations and has worked on a wide range of projects for the alliance and its member organisations, particularly on labour-market and collective bargaining issues.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from the University of Iceland, as well as a qualification to practise law.

According to a statement, Ívarsson has extensive knowledge of labour-market and collective bargaining issues and has closely followed the development, organisation and efforts to protect the interests of trade unions for university-educated professionals for many years.
