More than ten employees have been dismissed by Sýn, mbl.is reports. All of the affected employees have been informed of the layoffs, according to the news site’s sources.
At an employee meeting held at the company around noon, Sýn chief executive Herdís Dröfn Fjeldsted said the uncertainty surrounding the staffing issues had come to an end.
The company announced earlier on Monday that it would stop producing and broadcasting television news and the programme Ísland í dag after 40 years.
Fjeldsted did not disclose the exact number of layoffs at the meeting, but said there were fewer than 20.
