Yes lead narrows in Reykjavík North

Final results from Reykjavík North show the lead for the yes side narrowing slightly, mbl.is reported.

The yes side received 20,738 votes, or 54.5 per cent, while the no side received 17,317 votes, or 45.5 per cent. Earlier figures had put the yes side at 55.5 per cent, meaning its share fell by one percentage point in the final count.

There were 176 blank ballots and 129 invalid ballots. Of the 47,345 registered voters, 38,360 cast ballots, resulting in an 81 per cent turnout.

The no side also appeared to be gaining ground during the later stages of counting in the capital region. In the Southwest constituency, 32,800 votes had been counted, with 15,900 for yes and 16,900 for no. A large number of votes remained to be counted.
