Kontiotuote achieves record sales with €250 million agreement for log homes in Finland
A leading log cabin manufacturer from Pudasjärvi, Kontiotuote, has recorded its largest sales in history, with an unidentified individual placing an order for log structures for approximately 10,000 homes across two different projects. CEO Mika Rytky reveals that the buyer appears on Forbes’ list of the world’s 200 wealthiest individuals. However, he discourages attempts to pinpoint their exact position on the list, remarking, “You won’t find them; it’s too lengthy.”
The buyer, having learned about Kontiotuote’s products, visited the company’s exhibition site in Nurmijärvi on short notice. The head of foreign sales soon contacted Rytky, indicating the significance of the client, prompting Rytky to take charge of negotiations. This led to a sales process that involved Rytky visiting the future construction sites for the log homes alongside the client.
The recently announced framework agreement is valued at €250 million, with further collaborations anticipated, as Rytky notes the client has various projects in multiple countries and can make quick, significant decisions without needing external consultations.
Kontiotuote is also involved in projects that are kept confidential. According to Rytky, some luxury destinations are so exclusive that they lack even a physical address, attracting high-profile individuals who value complete privacy. Such visitors may recognize Kontiotuote’s products and consider becoming clients.
While the firm does not disclose client identities publicly, understanding them is crucial. Rytky highlighted experiences where transactions seemed promising until unexpected issues arose, such as cash offers that might originate from sanctioned countries like Belarus, potentially routed through others. Kontiotuote implements a thorough identification process for all foreign clients at the outset of deals.
