Áfram Ísland holds anti EU membership rally in Reykjavik

Áfram Ísland will hold a rally at Austurvöllur in Reykjavik from 5pm to 6pm, according to mbl.is. The movement says the event will focus on solidarity and its belief that Iceland is best served outside the European Union.

Speakers will include Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Auður Eir Vilhjálmsdóttir, Sigríður María Egilsdóttir and Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir.

Representatives of X-No, a youth group opposing EU membership, will also speak. They are Illugi Gunnarsson, Birta Karen Tryggvadóttir, Anton Sveinn McKee, Hrafn Splidt Þorvaldsson and Þórhildur Katrín Pálsdóttir.

Halldór Benjamín Þorbergsson will chair the meeting, and singer Ágúst Þór Brynjarsson will perform.
