Parliament set to approve more fishing days for group 5B

The Faroese parliament is set to approve a proposal granting more fishing days to group 5B, Kringvarp Føroya reports. The proposal was submitted by government minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen.

The parliament will hold its second reading and vote on the proposal on Wednesday. All but one member of the business committee supports it.

Three opposition proposals will also receive their first reading. One is a bill on short-term rentals submitted by Tjóðveldi and Ruth Vang of Framsókn.

The other two are resolutions. All opposition parties want responsibility for the chief medical officer’s office to be taken over. They also want the government to prepare a comprehensive plan with specific measures to prevent and combat sexual offences, and to submit a bill on the plan to parliament.

Parliament will hold oral question time on Thursday. Wednesday’s sitting begins at 11am.
