Erling Haaland’s new short haircut has sent social media buzzing and could bring more customers seeking the style to barbershops, DR reports.
The Norwegian football star has cut off his distinctive long, blond hair and replaced it with a classic short style. His Instagram post, captioned “Short hair, don’t care”, has received more than 200,000 comments.
Matthias Johansen, operations manager and barber at Carlsens Barbershop, which has salons in Copenhagen, Odense and Aarhus, said some customers would probably ask for the same look.
“There will definitely be a small rush of some guys who want short hair because Haaland has done it,” Johansen said.
Haaland is not the first superstar to influence men’s hairstyles, according to Johansen. Customers often bring in pictures of David Beckham with a buzz cut, Brad Pitt in “Fight Club” or Matthew McConaughey.
Barbers therefore need to follow social media to keep up with the latest trends. Johansen said trends often came from the United States, reaching Denmark about six months later.
“When it starts popping up on TikTok and Instagram, we feel it in the shops as well,” he said.
During the summer World Cup, Haaland gained several million new followers on social media and became a cult figure for Norway’s success.
