Finland’s Supreme Court has rejected all applications for leave to appeal in the Dödspatrullen case, Yle reports. The Court of Appeal’s ruling will therefore remain final.
Eight convicted people had applied for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court. The Court of Appeal sentenced 12 people to non-suspended prison terms for aggravated drug offences.
More than 300 kilograms of various drugs and millions of drug tablets were brought into Finland during the winters and springs of 2022 and 2023. The offences were suspected of being linked to the Swedish Dödspatrullen gang.
The case is considered the first in which criminals connected to a gang known in Sweden for serious crimes sought to enter Finland’s drug market.
The District Court and the Court of Appeal found that the offences had been committed as part of the activities of an organised criminal group. However, the Court of Appeal said the offences’ specific connection to Dödspatrullen had not been established.
