Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are visiting Vaasa and Espoo on Friday, with the 250th anniversary of the Vaasa Court of Appeal as the main focus, Yle reports.
The couple will spend about an hour at the court before Victoria plants a tree in Hovioikeudenpuisto park at around 10.15am. The tree will commemorate both the anniversary and the royals’ visit to Vaasa.
The royals will then walk from Hovioikeudenpuistikko to Lyseonkatu, where members of the public can greet them. Yle is broadcasting the tree planting and the meeting with the public live.
The Vaasa Court of Appeal is the second-oldest of Finland’s five courts of appeal. It was established in 1775 by a decision of Sweden’s King Gustav III.
After leaving central Vaasa, the couple will travel by car to Wärtsilä, where they will visit a technology centre and learn about developments in carbon-neutral shipping and energy production. Their visit to Vaasa will end with a lunch hosted by the city at Maaherrantalo.
From Vaasa, Victoria and Daniel will travel to Espoo to visit Aalto University, where they will learn about quantum technology, space technology and ice research.
