Áfram Ísland holds public meetings in Kópavogur and Akureyri

The Áfram Ísland movement is holding open meetings in Kópavogur and Akureyri on Thursday, mbl.is reports. Both meetings begin at 5pm and are available via live stream.
The meeting in Kópavogur will take place at the Brasa restaurant in Turninn at Smáratorg. Speakers will be lawyer Ingvar Smári Birgisson, investment manager Guðlaugur Steinarr Gíslason and business owner María Lena H. Olsen. Líf Magneudóttir, a city councillor for the Left, will chair the meeting.
The Akureyri meeting will be held at Hof cultural centre. Speakers will be Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chair of the Efling trade union; Steingrímur J. Sigfússon, a former member of parliament, minister and president of Alþingi; and Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, a former president of Iceland, member of parliament and minister. Ásthildur Sturludóttir, a former mayor of Akureyri, will chair the meeting.
The meetings are open to everyone.
According to a statement from the movement, Áfram Ísland is a platform for people who want to choose an Icelandic future on their own terms in the referendum on August 29.
