Kulturmødet Mors is presenting a more international programme this year, with Russian opposition politician Yulia Navalnaya as its main speaker, DR reports.

The cultural event has entered a new partnership with Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help Danish audiences better understand developments around the world, said Caspar Ryttergaard, director of Kulturmødet Mors.

“Culture is central to understanding one another. We cannot simply remain in a Danish context when discussing art and culture. We need to bring the world in, and that is what the international programme does,” Ryttergaard said.

Navalnaya, the widow of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who died in a Russian prison camp in 2024, will speak on Thursday evening.

“We are addressing some serious issues, including the freedoms we have in Denmark: freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and artistic freedom,” Ryttergaard said.

Former Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is also among the speakers. The event runs until Saturday.
