The two-teacher system in Faroese schools will be developed and expanded during the current coalition term, Minister Bárður á Lakjuni told Skúlablaðið, according to Kringvarp Føroya.

“I cannot say how much at this point,” he said.

The system is mentioned more than 100 times in a report on proposed amendments to the Folkeskúli Act, which all political parties helped prepare.

However, it currently applies only to the first and second grades. The arrangement has been in place for the past 15 years when classes have between 18 and 26 pupils.

Á Lakjuni said he would review the system as the number of pupils in a class is expected to fall to 22 next school year.
