Telemark Canal sees steady number of leisure boats

The number of leisure boats using the Telemark Canal this summer is at the same level as last year, NRK reports.

About 420 boats have passed through the lock in Skien, while Ulefoss lock has recorded just under 200 passages in each direction.

“It is quite similar to the final result for last season,” said Jan Roger Bredesen, the canal’s managing director.

He said the Telemark Canal would work to attract more leisure boats and added that it has capacity to receive more than it has this summer.
