More than 2,000 children begin school in Nordland
More than 2,000 five- and six-year-olds began their first day of school in Nordland on Thursday, NRK reported.
Rana municipality has 200 first-graders, including 13 starting at Skonseng school. The school has prepared a gentle transition from kindergarten, including a buddy programme and time for play in the timetable.
Fifth-grader Mille Sletten Røssvoll is one of the buddies welcoming the new pupils.
“We try to get them to listen to the school rules and things like that, and teach them little by little. But so far, they have actually followed many rules,” she said.
NRK Nordland discussed the start of the school year on the programme God Morgen Nordland.
