Finnish Chief of Defence General Janne Jaakkola visited Israel from Monday to Thursday, Yle reported. The trip included discussions on the region’s security situation, modern warfare and air defence solutions, according to the Finnish Defence Forces.

“Lebanon’s security situation is unstable. It was important to build an overall picture of the situation and discuss how developments are unfolding, particularly in Lebanon,” Jaakkola said in a statement.

He also discussed Finland’s UNIFIL operation, whose Finnish personnel have continued working professionally and determinedly despite challenging conditions, he said.

The visit focused on air defence as a whole and on operational experience with the David’s Sling air defence system in particular.

The Finnish Defence Forces said the introduction of David’s Sling and its integration into Finland’s air defence are progressing as planned. Finland ordered the system in 2023, and it is expected to be operational by the end of this decade.
