Wetteri cuts 79 person-years after change talks

Finnish car dealership company Wetteri Oy has completed its statutory change negotiations, Yle reports. The process will reduce staffing by 79 person-years and substantially alter the duties of 39 employees.

The company had initially estimated that 95 person-years would need to be reduced.

Up to 90 days of temporary layoffs may also affect 20 salaried employees at Wetteri Auto Oy. The company will close its branch in Iisalmi, while subsidiary Lahden Rekkapaja Oy will cease operations.

The measures are expected to generate annual savings of approximately 7.3 million euros. The new organisation will begin operating at the start of September.

Wetteri CEO Aarne Simula said in a company statement that the negotiations were conducted in a constructive spirit. He said the aim was to improve the company’s efficiency and local competitiveness while building profitable growth.

The Wetteri Group employs approximately 760 people and has branches in 19 locations across Finland.
