Two men arrested in Lahti over domestic violence

Lahti District Court on Wednesday remanded two men in custody on suspicion of domestic violence in separate cases, Yle reports.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on probable cause for attempted murder after police responded to a private residence in central Lahti on Monday. The victim, a relative of the suspect, sustained injuries consistent with an attempted homicide, according to preliminary investigation findings.

In a separate case, a 26-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday in the Ruola district of Lahti after police cordoned off an apartment and its surroundings. Authorities found an unlicensed firearm at the scene. The suspect faces charges including aggravated deprivation of liberty, aggravated firearms offenses, and assault against his spouse.

Both men were remanded in custody by the district court on Wednesday.
