A 12-year-old boy and a man born in the 1950s died in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Raasepori, western Finland, on Tuesday night, police said.
The emergency services were alerted just before 23:00 on 21 July after relatives reported the pair missing, according to a statement from Raasepori police. Searchers found the ATV overturned in a ditch beside a forest track near Grabbskog, with both occupants unresponsive. Attempts at resuscitation failed.
Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle left the road and tipped into the adjacent watercourse, police said. The deceased were later identified as grandfather and grandson, though not father and son, investigators told Yle.
Police have opened a preliminary investigation under sections covering endangerment of traffic safety and negligent homicide, with inquiries continuing into the cause of the crash.
