More than 300 singers have registered for this year’s Ólavsøka choir in the Faroe Islands, the choir’s leader confirmed after the first rehearsal.
The Ólavsøka choir traditionally performs at Tinghúsvøllurin on the national holiday following the Ólavsøka procession from Tórshavn’s Domkirkjan. This year’s conductor, Ásbjørn Berthelsen, said the turnout exceeded expectations.
“We are very satisfied with the first rehearsal,” Berthelsen said. “We have more than 300 singers, and the sound is already impressive.”
The choir will rehearse the piece “Túsund røddir kvøða,” which it will perform at Tinghúsvøllurin on Ólavsøkudagur.
