A woman injured in a traffic collision in Loppi, Finland, last Friday has died from her injuries, police confirmed on Friday.
The 45-year-old woman was a passenger in a van that left the road late Friday evening near Herajoki, close to the Riihimäki border.
Emergency responders extricated both the driver and the passenger from the wreckage. The driver, a 50-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The passenger was initially hospitalized but died from her injuries on Friday, according to Finland’s national broadcaster Yle.
Police suspect the driver was speeding, intoxicated, and lacked a valid driver’s license. He has been charged with aggravated vehicular manslaughter, aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, drunk driving, and unauthorized vehicle use.
Häme Police continue their investigation and plan further interviews with the suspect. Part of the technical inquiry is expected to conclude next week.
