Home break-ins rise 16% in Denmark
Reported break-ins at private homes in Denmark rose by 16% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to figures from Danmarks Statistik cited by Ritzau.
There were 3,159 reported break-ins between April and June this year, up from 2,730 in 2025. Over the first six months of 2026, reports increased by 10% year-on-year.
Britt Wendelboe, project manager at the Bo Trygt crime prevention initiative, called the increase significant and noted that organised crime may be a factor, though the exact cause remains unclear.
Bo Trygt, a collaboration between TrygFonden, Realdania, and the Danish Crime Prevention Council, advises residents to strengthen neighbourhood ties, use secure locks and windows, and avoid posting holiday updates on social media to reduce risk.
