Norway may hit 37°C as national heat record faces challenge
Forecasters predict temperatures could reach 37°C in Dalen, Telemark on Wednesday, potentially breaking Norway’s all-time heat record of 35.6°C set in Nesbyen in 1970, Dagbladet reports.
Meteorologists state there is near-certainty of temperatures exceeding 30°C across large parts of southern Norway, with inland areas of Telemark and Buskerud expected to see the highest readings. Oslo may reach 33°C. The heat is driven by a high-pressure system combined with warm air masses from the south.
While 30°C is considered almost guaranteed in many areas, the likelihood of 35°C or higher is far less certain, with only small regions showing a 20% probability. Temperatures are expected to ease slightly by the weekend.
