The Seinäjoki tango festival attracted 58,000 visitors this summer, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth, according to Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

Television coverage, in partnership with Yle, extended the event’s reach to nearly 1.7 million Finns. A Friday entertainment concert on Radio Suomi drew 739,000 viewers, while Saturday’s tango singing competition final was watched by 904,000.

Festival CEO Pasi Ojala noted the increasing attendance and positive feedback, saying the event had succeeded in creating an experience that draws people back.

Yle’s event director Jyri Kataja-Rahko welcomed the broadcaster’s return to the festival, stating that the audience had embraced the weekend’s content. “Our task is to promote Finnish culture and provide shared, unifying moments—and it seems we’ve succeeded,” he said.

The nearly sold-out singing competition final crowned Raija Mäntyniemi of Kauhajoki and Juho Punkeri of Hämeenlinna as the new tango king and queen.

The next Seinäjoki tango festival is scheduled for July 14–18, 2027.
