Sean Zhang receives medical school acceptance

Sean Zhang, 20, received his acceptance notice for Sweden’s highly competitive medical program at Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stockholm, he told SVT Nyheter on Friday.

“I’m not ready, I won’t lie,” he said before opening the decision.

A total of 5,296 applicants vied for a spot in the program. Zhang, who said he has a deep passion for medicine, added that admission would mean a great deal to his family.

“They’ve supported me so much. It’s been a year, and we’ve fought through this together,” he said.
