A Tamper-based company, Amissa-kiinteistöt, has purchased the Hotel Kainuu in Kuhmo, Yle reports.

The sale, completed on Monday, transfers full ownership and management rights of the property, including all fixtures, to the buyer. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

The company is linked to a Tampere businessman previously convicted of multiple offences. His most recent conviction, handed down by the Vaasa Court of Appeal in November 2025, includes a six-month suspended prison sentence for violations in accommodation and catering operations, construction offences, endangering public safety, and aggravated fraud tied to the operations of Amissa bakery in Keuruu.

The case remains under review by the Supreme Court, which is examining whether the Central Finland District Court had jurisdiction when issuing its ruling. The conviction is therefore not yet final.

Amissa bakery produced nationally distributed products, such as pastries and meat pies. In early 2023, the Finnish Food Authority ordered the company’s products removed from the market due to health safety violations.

The same businessman also owns Suomen urheiluhallit, a company that has faced its own legal troubles. He was previously convicted of tax fraud, accounting offences, and aggravated tax fraud for providing false information to tax authorities between 2017 and 2019 while serving as a responsible party for Suomen urheiluhallit. The company once owned the Rahola sports centre in Tampere, which was later sold in a forced auction.

Yle has not been able to reach the businessman for comment on the hotel purchase.
