Heatwave to hit southern Norway with temperatures near 30C
A heatwave is forecast to reach southern Norway this week, with temperatures approaching 30°C by the weekend, according to national broadcaster Dagbladet.
Magnus Ovhed, a senior meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, told news agency NTB that the warmth will build from Wednesday, peaking over the weekend. A high-pressure system developing over eastern Norway is expected to bring dry, sunny conditions.
The heat is likely to last around a week, with the warmest temperatures in Østlandet, Agder, Buskerud, and Telemark. Ovhed advised those attending outdoor events, such as the Slottsfjellfestivalen in Tønsberg or World Cup football screenings, to wear minimal clothing and use water to cool down.
If the high-pressure system expands, Vestlandet and Trøndelag may also experience the warm weather, though coastal areas could instead see cooler air.
