The Húsahaga wind power cooperative, owned by SEV, reported a loss of 38.8 million krona last year, according to Faroese broadcaster KVF.
The deficit followed a write-down of fixed assets by 28.3 million krona to zero, caused by a critical generator fault affecting the cooperative’s turbines. The fault requires extensive repairs.
The cooperative is now assessing whether other suppliers can perform similar maintenance on the existing turbines or if new turbines should be installed more quickly, as the current ones risk failing. If neither repairs nor new turbines receive approval, the cooperative will likely need to be dissolved and the costs absorbed, the cooperative stated.
