Social welfare NGO Soste confused by minister Rydman’s remarks on Stea grant criteria

Social and health NGO umbrella organisation Soste says it supports a draft regulation on grants for NGOs submitted by permanent secretaries, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

However, Soste says the situation remains unclear due to comments made by Social Affairs and Health Minister Wille Rydman of the Finns Party during an appearance on Yle’s A-studio programme on Wednesday.

Rydman stated that the draft regulation did not provide grounds to change the criteria he had proposed for the grants. Soste is now questioning whether Rydman’s criteria would remain in force even if the grant regulation were amended.
