Nato to establish northern Europe command hub in Haderslev
Nato will establish a new signal battalion headquarters for northern Europe in Haderslev, Denmark, by 2029, the Danish Defence Command announced today.
The facility will serve as a command centre for planning and managing units responsible for communication and data networks between relevant forces, according to the Danish Defence Ministry.
Denmark offered to host the headquarters in 2025 as part of Nato’s revised command structure. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus (S) stated that the move demonstrates Denmark’s commitment to collective security within Nato and the Nordic region.
Haderslev Mayor Mads Skau (Venstre) welcomed the decision, calling it a significant boost for local employment and economic growth. He acknowledged, however, that the expansion reflects the serious security situation in Europe.
The headquarters is expected to be fully operational by 2029.
