Thorkild Fogde steps down as national police chief in major reshuffle
Thorkild Fogde will no longer serve as Denmark’s national police chief, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.
Rigsadvokat Lasse Boje Nielsen will take over as national police chief, while Fogde is set to become police director of Copenhagen West Police.
Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen (S) thanked Fogde and others leaving their posts for their contributions to Danish police and prosecution services.
The reshuffle also includes new leadership for PET, Denmark’s domestic intelligence agency. Rasmus Kieffer-Kristensen, previously a minister-counsellor at Denmark’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, will head PET. Current PET chief Finn Borch Andersen, who announced his departure in March, will become police director of Copenhagen Police.
