Man dies after train collision near Roskilde Festival

Police have confirmed that a 21-year-old man died after being struck by a train near Roskilde Festival early Sunday, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

The incident occurred around 01:14 at Teglværksvej 1, a few hundred metres from the festival site. Authorities received a 112 emergency call shortly after.

Lasse Jensen, duty officer at Midt- og Vestsjællands Police, stated there is no indication of a crime. The victim, wearing a festival wristband, was a local resident of the Roskilde area.

Police have not disclosed the train’s direction, though DR’s live reporter noted a train from Roskilde Station to Gadstrup was scheduled at the time. Authorities declined to confirm whether alcohol was a factor.

Investigators have left the scene and are now focusing on reconstructing the events and examining the victim. Interviews are underway to determine how the incident occurred.

Next of kin have been notified.
