The hazardous situation caused by a sulfuric acid leak at Nevel Oy’s plant in Kemi’s Veitsiluoto has been resolved, Yle reports.
A 10,000-litre sulfuric acid leak was detected at the facility on Friday, with acidic water also entering the sea. Cleanup operations continued into Saturday.
Earlier, authorities had issued a warning for the water area between Kemi’s Petsamontie and Kaartotie, which remained in effect until the water’s pH level returned to the threshold set by environmental permits.
