Denmark’s military insists drones were active over the country last year, but police have found no evidence to support the claims, according to a report by public broadcaster DR.

Multiple police districts investigated reports of drones near airports and military sites in late September and early October 2025, including a major incident at Copenhagen Airport on 22 September that forced a temporary shutdown of airspace.

Copenhagen Police confirmed unusual aerial activity but stated they could neither prove nor rule out drone presence. Similar conclusions came from police in Sydøstjylland, Nordjylland, Syd- og Sønderjylland, and Midt- og Vestjylland, all of which received reports of suspected drones near airports and military installations.

In contrast, the Danish Defence Command released a report on Friday concluding that drones had been active, based on technical data and soldier observations. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus said the military had recorded around 200 special aerial observations between 22 September and 6 October 2025.

Defence Chief Michael Hyldgaard described the activity as part of a hybrid influence campaign against Denmark but declined to identify those responsible.
