The National Bureau of Investigations in Finland has reported multiple cases of scammers posing as police officers in video calls, targeting immigrants in particular.

In these calls, the fraudsters attempt to obtain banking or personal information, such as by asking victims to show their payment cards to the camera. The scammers have used Finnish and English during the calls, threatening victims with account closures, arrest, or deportation if they refuse to comply.

The bureau emphasizes that Finnish police do not make video calls to citizens. It advises that unknown callers on platforms like Google Meet can be blocked by adjusting settings to allow only contacts from personal address books.
