Rafnar Lárusson, Landsvirkjun’s executive director of finance and information technology, says he plans to look for a new job after resigning this week, mbl.is reports.
He has worked at the company for 16 years and says it is time for a change. His first step may be updating his CV, which is still on typewritten paper, and transferring it to digital form. He said he had not decided what to do next, had received no formal job offers and was not targeting a particular role, although he had received calls since his resignation became public.
Lárusson said he decided four or five years ago that he would leave when Landsvirkjun’s chief executive, Hörður Arnarson, left. Arnarson announced his resignation earlier this month. The stated reason was disagreement over governance and the approach to decision-making.
Lárusson said he and Arnarson had not discussed their departures in advance and were not planning to work together on future projects. He also said he would not apply for the chief executive position, which was recently advertised. In his view, it was best for the incoming chief executive to choose their own finance director.
He said he had stayed at Landsvirkjun longer than he had originally planned because he had worked on interesting projects with colleagues he enjoyed. He said there had been no disagreement or other specific event behind his decision to leave.
