A prominent Danish weight-loss doctor, Jesper Nygart, has removed nine promotional videos from his online clinic Fit For Livet following accusations of multiple legal violations, DR reports.
The videos, which advertised medical weight-loss programs including Wegovy, were hosted on the clinic’s Instagram profile. Experts had previously told DR that the videos violated Danish law by marketing health services outside the company’s own website, using emotional appeals, and failing to adequately disclose potential side effects.
Nygart initially defended the videos as lawful informational content in interviews with DR’s P1 Morgen and TV Avisen on Wednesday. By Thursday morning, however, he confirmed to DR that the videos had been taken down after his marketing team reviewed the links in question.
“Our marketing manager has taken a second look at the links you sent,” Nygart wrote in an email to DR. He added that the videos were “paused” and that he was attempting to contact the Danish Patient Safety Authority, the regulatory body overseeing such matters.
Other companies, including Embla and Memira, have faced similar criticism. Memira has deactivated its disputed videos on Meta’s platforms but maintains they were legal. Embla has not responded to repeated criticism since November and has not removed its videos.
Health Minister Ida Auken (S) told DR on Wednesday that some companies appear to be ignoring the law and announced plans to convene parliamentary parties for discussions. Since November 2025, DR has, with expert input, identified over 200 legal violations in health service advertising across multiple companies.
