The Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS) has concluded its restructuring negotiations, resulting in the termination of 58 employment contracts and the part-time reduction of eight roles, the foundation announced in a press release.

The changes reduce YTHS’s workforce by roughly five percent, from its current 1,150 employees. The adjustments target general and mental health services, oral health services, and administration, though no service locations will close.

YTHS stated the measures are part of efforts to balance its finances and continue strategic renewal. General and specialist doctors were not included in the negotiations.

“Rising student numbers and growing demand for services require us to reform our structures and streamline operations so we can provide timely and appropriate care to as many students as possible,” said YTHS CEO Annika Saarikko in the release.

YTHS provides primary-level general, mental, and oral health services to higher education students across Finland.
