Almedalsveckan 2026 opens in Visby on Monday with debates among the youth wings of Sweden’s parliamentary parties, SVT reports.
From Tuesday to Friday, each of the eight Riksdag parties will take the main stage for half-day sessions, with party leaders delivering their annual speeches. Kristdemokraterna’s Ebba Busch starts at noon on Tuesday, followed by Liberalerna’s Simona Mohamsson at 19:00. Sverigedemokraterna’s Jimmie Åkesson speaks at noon on Wednesday, with Centerpartiet’s Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist at 19:00. Miljöpartiet’s Daniel Helldén takes the noon slot on Thursday, ahead of Socialdemokraterna’s Magdalena Andersson at 19:00. Moderaterna’s Ulf Kristersson speaks at noon on Friday, with Vänsterpartiet’s Nooshi Dadgostar closing the week at 19:00.
SVT will broadcast live interviews with the party leaders from its Morgonstudion, conducted by Pelle Nilsson and William Brynolfsson, timed to coincide with the stage speeches.
A total of 3,205 events are scheduled throughout the week, with many available via live streams. Region Gotland’s programme lists all activities.
Weather forecasts predict mostly sunny conditions, with temperatures between 21–23°C. Light rain is possible Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon.
Almedalsveckan, first held in 1968, is an annual gathering in Visby’s Almedalen park where political parties, organisations, and associations hold speeches, debates, and meetings.
