The Faroe Islands’ HPV vaccination coverage remains well below the 90% target for 15-year-olds, health minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen told public broadcaster KVF.

Current uptake lags far behind neighbouring countries, with fewer than half of eligible adolescents fully vaccinated. The reasons for the shortfall are unclear, Niclasen said, but authorities now plan fresh awareness campaigns to boost participation.

“This is a chance to prevent cervical and other cancers—diseases that can be fatal,” she said. “We must act to match the rates of our neighbours.”
