Odense’s light rail system returned to full operation on Saturday morning, covering the entire route between Tarup and Hjallese, after weeks of reduced service, the operator announced in a Facebook post.

The Danish Transport Authority issued the required safety approval late Friday night, following the discovery on 22 May by operator Keolis that a bridge support was missing. Since then, the tram had been running on only half the network.

“A huge thank you for your patience over the past weeks. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused by the reduced service and are very pleased to be back,” the operator said.

Dan Ravn, director of Odense Letbane, echoed the relief. “Right now, we are above all incredibly relieved to be running the full route again. The past weeks have been highly unsatisfactory for our passengers. Now we must get back to work, and I want to thank customers for their patience—and assure them we will do everything to restore trust and the high satisfaction levels we have enjoyed for a long time before this incident,” he told the operator’s website.

Ravn added that the company would review the events leading to the shutdown to prevent a recurrence. “This situation should never have happened in the first place,” he said.
